' Fraternal Twins reinterpretations and variants '

' The NEW Le Fresnoy '

After taking the Le Fresnoy concept and characteristics to develop it as a toy ( learning tool ), from now we were asked to moving on to the bigger scale which we have to create and design the ' fraternal twins ' of our own case study by taking its DNA and also the architect style.

The design of ' The NEW Le Fresnoy ' is developed from the program and characteristic of the Le fresnoy which was the media school for new generations crossover artist, created a big amount of contemporary art which is about to combining art with the new technology for example audio-visual, every work from the students and the visitor instructor are prepared to present each year in the event called panorama event.

' The NEW Le Fresnoy ' were located besides the Le Fresnoy to fulfill the Le Fresnoy which I added more program to ' the NEW Le fresnoy ' for example some performance class so that the student will not just product the audio-visual or short film but also allow and have more chance to produce the  long movie or animation. I have taking the old existing warehouse besides there to renovate it as the new school building which contained the library, lecture class, cinema, editing room, studio for shooting and photography and the new long exhibition hall to present the student work. All the program were arranged follow the plan concept of the pre-production -> production -> post-production related to the continuous experiences ideal of Bernard Tschumi, an architect who design the Le Fresnoy.

Connecting the Le Fresnoy with ' the NEW Le Fresnoy ' together by extending the sructural column from both the Le Fresnoy and the existing warehouse together allover the between space and ctreated the huge giantic bridge roof, fly over the existing house and the garden underneath. This bridge were design mimic to the new roof with the suspended circulation also the concept of the in-between space at the le fresnoy art center however this bridge be both the circulation and the roof at the same time. Below the bridge provided a long path among the garden which also connected to the le fresnoy art center. The bridge also prepared the space for some performance show, sound editing themes, the 360 degree panorama screen and pavilion with the cafe and snack bar for resting and relaxing.

- Le fresJOIN -

In this phase, I have taken the main characteristic from the building( Le Fresnoy ) to develop it as the main concept of the " Toy ". I focused about the joint which occur in Le Fresnoy's structure and was a connecting material that connect lots of stuff in the building together both vertical and horizontal direction.

Come out my toy ' Le fresJOIN ' the stick puzzle contained of three lengths of sticks and two types of joint which help and allow player to manipulate and create their own shapes and forms beyond their imagination.

Players can create many kinds of shapes and forms because of the joint's function that can rotate and bend so players can set it in many direction for more proper.

These also was not just a hand scale toys, players also can made its big as our body scale and can also transform its into another kinds of toy for other uses too.

' Didactic DNA '

' Le Fresnoy '

Starting this project from the given case study of a institute which we have to do a lot of research about the philosophy, characteristics, style and the main design concept of the building for us to deeply understand the DNA of the building and can define it.

I got 'Le fresnoy art center' as the case study. Le fresnoy is a center for crossover artist and transprogramming contemporary art center. Bernard Tschumi, an architect's idea was to create a new roof system with suspended walkways for new circulation and new open spaces for more possibilities. The "Boxes inside boxes" became an embrace as a parachute over the existing structure of Le fresnoy. The new construction also preserve the old things below too.

' Matrix '

After studying about the architecture, we were asked to analyse and present our information in 3 sets of plate which each set contained the topic whole, part and detail. First set which was the first row was about the concept, interesting point and the characteristic of our case study. The second was the work from the same architect in my case was Tschumi. The last was about the architecture which may have the same or similar idea and type to our case study.

For the first plate of the first row, I'm talking about the main concept of this building which is how the new things combine and join with the old things so I explode the building up and categorize it to see how it gap to the existing.

' Part '

In this part, I'm showing one of the interesting thing in the cite was the 'Suspended circulation' which hang with the new structure to connect the old and new things and different levels in the cite together. It also contain places for installations and film projections which located along a sequence of walkway.

The last plate of the first row was about the hanging system of the suspended walkway how it hang to the new roof.

' Second row - Bernard Tschumi '

' Learner hall student center ' and ' Parc de la villette ' was the other project of Bernard Tschumi which have a similar kind of 'DNA' to the ' Le freshoy '. 

' Learner hall ' has the same idea of connect the innovative to the original features. In this case was the new spiral ramps which connect all the activities together along the way also having the same kind of hanging system.

For the ' Parc de la villette ', I was talking more about the same kind of style, material and structure and the a bit different from the Le fresnoy was the layout of the cite which Le fresnoy new construction was built by aware the existing while Parc de la villette was like creating a new grid and top it on the surface.

' Third row - Architectural style '

For the last row, I have ' Santa Caterina market ' as an another example of wrapping by the steel roof sheets similar to ' Le fresnoy's ' new roof. It stills has the similar kind of structure and underneath column too.

And I got both ' Fondazione Prada ' and ' Caixaforum madrid ' for an idea of the combination of the old and new architecture.
