Phase 3 Tony Nattawat Tangthanakitroj

Phase 3 or the final phase is about combining the structure principles, forms and strategies within the new institution building. Several inspirations has been mix to shape up the new learning centre locating close to University Bocconi the original building where I got the influence from and therefore the new building I was designing is for and to be an another part of this university programs.

Phase 1

University Bocconi has many different buildings but the main one I was studying on is the Aula Magna building designed by Grafton architect. The building has unique forms where the architect designed to have canopies of smaller buildings strike upward from the main big hall which is the auditorium. The bottom of the smaller buildings where the glass facade is locating allows light to enter inside and spread all around the interior of the auditorium.

Phase 2

From the phase 1 I was influenced to take some inspirations to create a new toy. A two game players toy having to stack up plastic piece that has magnet stick at the end of the long side. 

The objective of the toy is to stack up pieces as many as possible. each players have to stack there pieces and all of their pieces have to be connected together. The players may use their opponents structure to support their pieces. The first person who makes the whole fall down looses. 

Final Phase

I choose to place my design close to the original location to be another part of the programs. The building was the combination of the principle from the first and the second phase. 

From the first phase I apply the glass facade at the bottom of the canopy to allow light to enter the ground level canteen.

Because the building is connecting to the city road and the main university area. It shapes the model to have two main entrances to the building. The one facing to the city road will bring people toward the upper social spaces and office and the one close to the university area will lead to the ground level canteen and grocery store. 

From the 2nd phase the principle of branches connecting at the is included in this project as well. At the top of the building canopies are connected together to allow people to circulate from one building to another.
