At the beginning of this phase, I chose a site the is opposite of
Rudolph hall. Surrounded by buildings that are similar in height to
Rudolph hall, the site area contains smaller buildings, which
decreases its significance in the area. The site, composed from an array
of several small buildings, is not in a regular rectangle shape, from about the
the middle, the site decreases in width and has a corner chipped.

I explored a different massing
models that are aimed for each of the three levels of
zygosity. The first detailed idea of the building is generated
by directly bringing the block intersection and form composition
from the building onto the site. This is to further emphasize the main
characteristics of the building I aim to develop further

Here, the central atrium is exaggerated from a double space into a
full vertical void in the building, reaching up to meet the skylight.
Playing with the difference of block lengths that protrude out of the facades
in Rudolph hall, I used the same idea to adjust the building to fit its site looking

The finalized model of the building results in a composition that brings
the concept of block interception, merging with the form developed
through the phase 2 "play gifts and manipulative" toy. Together an arrangement
of spaces are formed which intercept each other both horizontally

and vertically in a pattern mimicking the toy, and with floor plans that contain
openings allowing occupants to overlook down into other areas of the building,
generating an open atmosphere for the interior.

From research, I discovered that in a certain
period of time the building did not receive much appreciation until later,
and that even users of the building did not like its style. I therefore came
up with the idea to challenge the style of brutal-ism in Rudolph hall, and
develop a brutalist building that uses an unexpected material; glass.
