WHOLE
The total space illustrates the overall design and layout of the classrooms and central hall space. Classrooms are on located at the corners of the buildings so that contribute to centralization of students.
PART
The significant design of this building is the public space in the middle under the concept of "school as a city" and "school as a home" where students are led to have collaborative activities together.
Corners are designed for various function, they can be used as an individual work and a group work.
DETAIL
As Herman Hertzberger focus on structure of the building, together with giving priority to users. Therefore, his design presents a number of functional space and the structure like the joints and intersections of the building as shown the images below.
ARCHITECT
Centraal Beheer and Delft Montessori school are also another works of Herman Hertzberger. Cen traal Beheer is an office and workspace. The major characteristic of this architecture is it provide both horizontal and vertical interact in the building. Delft Montessori school also provide public space at the center full with corners for students to get to know each other. Similarly, these two buildings have central space in order to promote collaboration in the community.
STYLE
Aldo Van Eyck, Louis Khan and Estudio Macias Peredo are the three examples of architects who have the same style as Herman Hertzberger. They all concern about public space in order to promote collaboration in the institution.
