INTERLOCKING SOMA PUZZLE
CONCEPT : Interlocking
GOAL : Connect all Soma polycubes into a cube
SOLUTION : 2 version
MOVEMENT : Sliding, Stacking & Rotating
In relation to the concept of the Educatorium, all the soma polycubes connected together
by interlocking and shared the maximum all surfaces as similar to the Educatorium that Rem Koolhaas
designed U & S shape to fold and interlock to connect the every floors together by 4 directions.
As similar to the Meilstien hall, the interlocking section also connected two floors to faced together.
Villa V-pro using S shape interlocking section with the void on the middle to
connected 3 floors together and faced together between second and third floor.
MANUAL
INVENTORY
- 14 pieces of Soma polycube (PURPLE & PINK are the same but rotate to transform)
- 4x10 grid (1st version : BLUE grid, 2nd version : RED grid)
STEP : 1st version
- The way to connect all pieces on first layer is to slide horizontally by holding the handle
based on maximizing the number of surfaces that touch each other to interlock.
- The way to connect all pieces on second layer is to stack it horizontally and vertically
on the handle but you need to rotate to fit the empty space and interlock. If you stack
it correct it will be one single cube.
STEP : 2nd version
- The way to connect all pieces on first layer is do the same process as the
first version but this time you move it just two soma polycubes and leave one.
- Rotate to fit the empty space and interlock. If you stack it correct it will be one single cube.
Afterthat, you move the soma polycube that you leave it on latest step to interlock.
- Finally, you stack the last layer vertically and you will got one single four by four by four block cube.
