' Fraternal Twins'

'Gund Hall' is a building designed for Harvard Graduated school of Design (GSD) located in Cambridge Massachusetts. The GSD consists of 4 programs and one of them, the Design studies, was moved to another building due to the lack of studio space in Gund Hall.

In this phase, the purpose is to design an additional building to support the Design studies student and continue developing the educational concept referring to Gund Hall. The building connected to Gund Hall mentally by the entrance and the continuing cascading floor going underground.

The form of the new building is inspired by Phase 2 toy, where the continuity of surface creates a continuous space. The first set of models focused on the main 3 DNA of one studio space, continuous space and visual connection.

Then the idea of continuous surface is developed on how the folding surface could connect the interior with exterior and roofscape with ground. The extended ramps and stairs are designed by reforming the existed walk path to follow the shape of the building and leading to the entrance.
