DESIGN III PROJECT I PHASE II
TANATSORN SRIARJ
THOMAS LOZDA
CASE STUDY:
ROY AND DIANA VAGELOS EDUCATIONAL CENTER
ARCHITECT : DILLER SCOFIDIO + RENFRO
IN THIS PHASE WE WERE TO DECODE THE CONCEPT
OF OUR CASE STUDY BUILDING AND DEVELOP
IT INTO CREATING A TOY
CONNECT THE DOT
CONNECT THE DOT
TWO OF THE VOCABS I DECODE FROM THE CASE STUDY IS "CONTINUITY" AND "INTERCONNECTING" IN WHICH I USE THE CONTINUITY FORM FROM THE BUILDING TO CONNECT THE PUZZLE WITH THE IDEA OF INTERCONNECTING THE PUZZLES.
MY TOY CONSIST OF THREE MAIN PIECES : THE BASE, THE FRAME AND THE PUZZLE. THE DRAWING ABOVE CONSIST OF THE BASE AND THE PUZZLE IN WHICH THE PUZZLE ARE SEPARATED INTO THREE LEVELS AS STATED IN THE DRAWING ABOVE.
THE PUZZLES CONSIST OF THREE DIFFERENT SHAPE
IN WHICH EACH SHAPE HAS IT OWN ROLE IN
CREATING THE END FORM AND PATTERN.
THE SQUARE:
CAN ONLY BE INTERCONNECTED
IN A VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL WAY 90 DEGREE.
THE TRIANGLE:
CAN ONLY BE CONNECTED IN A 45 DEGREE DIAGONALLY
THE CIRCLE:
SERVES AS A PIECE THAT CHANGE FROM VERTICAL
TO DIAGONAL INTERCONNECTION OR TO CONVERT IT BACK
THIS IS THE PROCEDURE: FIRST YOU STICK THE WIRE
FRAME STICK LEVEL FOR THE GUIDELINES OF PATTERN
AND THEN STICK IT INTO ANY HOLES IN THE BASE. THEN
YOU CONNECT THE PUZZLE FROM THE BOTTOM GAP TO THE
TOP OF THE WIRE FRAME BY USING EACH OF THE THREE SHAPE
TO CREATE DIFFERENT PATTERNS ALONG THE WAY.
