Didactic DNA

           " This project phase is required student to choose building for case study and analysed them and represented by redraw, remodel in the matrix."



Case Study

Building : Peter B. Lewis Building
Architect : Frank Gehry

Peter B. Lewis building is the new way for people look at the faculty
of management by the shape of the building which the ceiling and wall are shifting.
Moreover, the building roof is one way to build the building form.





Whole

As we talked about the way that Gehry designed the form of the building
which is started from the layout of the interior and the roof form. Therefore,
this plate shows how the building form deformed from the rectangle by one bay 
of the building grids.

Part

The significant part of the building is the roof which Gehry called 
" Frozen custard". The form came from Gehry screwed paper to the shape, while 
he edited some to same as when the fish's movement. The way to connect them together by steel wire structure and combined them in one structure. Hence, the plate tried to show the way how the roof connect to building and the roof structure.

Detail

Peter B. Lewis building is strange form, so the structure is crucial for 
holding the building. Therefore, there are two types of column in the building are 
vertical and oblique columns. The oblique columns helps to span the weight and support the roof. Therefore, the plate will show where are the two columns are? and 
how they support the roof by section.

Building : Maggie's Dundee ( Maggie's Centre )
Architect : Frank Gehry

    Maggie's Dundee is the place for cancer patients which Gehry designed.If compare this building with food, it will be the "Ginger bread" cover by Aluminium foil.
This building are similar to Peter B. Lewis building by the form, structure and roof material.






Whole

 This plate shows the plan of the building with transform from curve to straight
line. The way to represent is selecting one bay of the building grids to show how they change.





Part

This building roof is different from Peter B. Lewis building because the 
roof structure use wood.

Building : British Museum

This plate different from the two plate on the top because the British museum plan is regular form ,so if we compare to the another building, it will show that everything are located in the divide space.

Building : RonChamp
Architect : Le Corbusier

This building is inspired the Peter B. Lewis building, even through they use the 
different way to support the roof.

This building used the three walls support the roof, while the wall
