Le Corbusier
a Swiss-French is one of the well-known architect during the period of
brutalism. He was in the He was one of the architecture which had a big
influence towards architecture these days especially with his theory of 5
modern architecture points that apply in his design. He was inspired by the urban
planning which later on was assigned to work and design city of Chandigarh
which where the given site I have been assigned on this phase also located here
Ecole d'art et d'architecture
Chandigarh College of Architecture
Ecole d’art et d’Architecture or Chandigarh college of
architecture, located in Chandigarh (India) project during 1950-1965 wile
having Le Corbusier who was the one designed this college. The purpose of this
college is aim to develop it unique inherent potential and location and to
inspire support, sustain and continue academic program .The college are in the
simple from of the rectangular “U” shape when look in plan, also applying many
points in the 5 theory concept of modern architecture the materials are simple
with concrete and brick.
Plate Matrix
Top row are representing Chandigarh Second row is showing La Tourette and the
last column are Church or assumption and museum liner Appenzell
On The left side in the vertical form are architecture data present in the whole part of the institute
The vertical middle row focused on part of the institute and how they work
Last vertical column on the right focused o detail for example the facade or colour.
The first page showing the plan of the institute with the
highlight in different program or function or part of the building. On the
other side the grid based on Le Corbusier theory also apply to determine the
important part of the institute such as courtyard and the thesis studio which
can be seen by where the grids are intersect.
The chosen part are the studio as this part is showing all
the important feature of the building, how each side are connect together, how
the ventilation and light operate. The brise solei are also shown in this diagram
where it presents the data of temperature of the interior and exterior of the
building, how the façade is helping to cool down the temperature for the institute.

This part I focused on the facade as I believed that Le Corbusier pay very close attention when it comes to the facade especially when I link these analysis with his 5 points of modern architecture. In this institutes there are main 3 facades/windows where it control light
and wind for the best use ofeach space and the comfortable in atmosphere.

Le Corbusier
Sainte Marie de La Tourette
La Tourette is another institute designed by Le Corbusier where
I picked as to compared with the Chandigarh college of architecture. The
building itself are designed for the educational, religious, ad residence area
for monks. La Tourette share many similar points in term if architecture with
CCA, they also have rectangular “U” shape in plan several similar from of facade
are used. However the scale is way larger when compared to the Chandigarh
college of architecture

The detail that I chose to work on for La Tourette again are
the facades and windows as to compared to Chandigarh college of architecture. As
mention earlier there are several form of façade apply on this building for the
ventilation and to prevent light or how to let the light through. Façade are
really important because it is one of the point in 5 of Le Corbusier where if
the façade is well designed the efficiently function of the building is better.
Gigon Guyer
Museum liner Appenzell
Museum
of Liner Appenzell located in Switzerland designed by Gigon Guyer is the
institute with different architect which I chose to work on. The museum itself
share the same shape of roof with Chandigarh, the materials and the structure
also quite similar. However the purpose of this institute is not for
educational purpose but for the show of art work mainly.
Alvar aalto
Church of Assumption
Church of the assumption in Italy designed by Alvar Aalto
also share the similar form of roof as other institute apart than La Tourette.
The structure of the support roof also lead to the different way of how the
light goes in. The purpose of this building is for religious use. The materials
used are also same as all other institute which is concrete, while it has the
bright tone means only need little of light to bright up the building.
This page is representing part for the two institutes which
have different architect designed.
Both site plan are showing how they have a relationship relating to the nature , the form of the building etc.
Both site plan are showing how they have a relationship relating to the nature , the form of the building etc.
The
center part of the building are the best well to represent the function and how
it operates.
The structure and how the light through is quite similar including
the tone of the interior.
Both building also share the similar form of how the light
go into the building which is one of the main highlight as compared to CCA and
La Tourette which also have the same style. Each space are also neatly designed
for specific purpose of function for the best efficient and comfort.
