Didactic DNA
 Design Three : Phase 1


The objective of this phase is to study a piece of architecture related to institution, to study its elements and also the elements of similar building and learn of its language.

This is the Leicester University Engineering Building, by James Stirling and James Gowan,
said to be one of the most unique and modern building of its time, located in Leicester, England.

The case study of the building is located on the first row.
The second row show the building from the same architect, both also related to institution.
And the last row display buildings of similar styles or principle.

 separated by color to show the function of each parts of the building and 
also the circulation through out the entire building
 

The second page telling the function of each parts and the form and shapes 
which reflection those functions.


And the last page of the building case study, showing the detail of 
the unique glass roof over the workshop area, the materials and some of the interior.

Following are the two building of the same architect, one is a library in Cambridge University and the other is the resident building in Queen's College, Oxford.
Both display similar design aspect but they were design to address different problems.

The last three buildings of similar style, although not from the same architect but they all harbor some similar principles. For example, the fact that they display the building infrastructure and the separation of parts due to function is alike.
